Joshua Michael Frederick Jordan, 42, passed away Wednesday February 15, 2023 at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. He was born on July 18, 1980, adopted as a young boy by Claudia J. Stanley in Sanford, Maine. Joshua grew up in Naples, Maine and attended the Baxter school for the deaf in Falmouth Maine. Joshua resided in a private group home for adults with developmental disabilities. Josh loved his most recent group home, it was reported that he was healthy, and happy; and had housemates that he cared for and, had built relationships with, along with many staff that supported and assisted with his daily care and life. Joshua was a special guy. He had big brown eyes, and long black eyelashes. He was known for giving large hugs and had the biggest smile. Josh was grateful for the Shriners hospital in Boston, Massachusetts where many of his leg surgeries were performed, he was comfortable with his medical team, and the treatment and care provided to him. Josh loved to swim. Swimming in a pool was his favorite, yet he also loved trips to Sebago Lake State Park, and Pine Tree Camp, where he spent a few weeks most summers since a young boy camping. Both places were places Joshua enjoyed and spent much time swimming at. He also participated in the Special Olympics in Bangor. Josh is predeceased by his mom Claudia J. Stanley whom he adored and loved very much and his father Dennis Jordan. Survivors include Claudia’s three children, the oldest son Matthew Jordan of Sabattus, and daughters Megan Lanois of Salmon, Idaho, and Trina Rojas of South Berwick, Maine, and nieces and nephews Brianna, Cory, Jasmine, Jordan, Michael, Nathan, Alexis and Chloe and several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 24th at 11:00 A.M. at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale with a burial at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Springval. Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford- Springvale. 1. Josh, I pray you are laughing, dancing and surrounded by love and safety…you had so many challenges in life but almost always had a beautiful smile that lit up your big brown eyes…..I hope you are with your mom. You were and are loved by so many. RIP Josh…you are with the angels now

  2. To a good friend o’ mine,
    A Gem in the rough,
The son of a goon had me fooled,
    Thinking wheelchair bound isn’t tough,

    So, one day I challenged,
The myself and he across a pool,
    He was waiting for me,
Like a shark to a fool,

    I got halfway over,
When he swam like a nothing I’ve seen,
passing me in a quick flash,
that’s when I knew, he wasn’t very green,

    It seems that his strength,
Was in his arms, not his legs,
    and bolted past me,
    Like a wolf eating eggs,

    But even more important,
    The memories left behind,
    Though were seldom and few,
An Impact was made of mine,

You see, Josh and I never saw things,
    Exactly eye to eye,
But that’s what friends do at times,
    Even when we say goodbye,

Josh could be stubborn as a mule,
    And friendly as ever,
So, I say this to you Josh,
    Never say never,

    There will come a time,
When we shall meet once more,
I’ll have ether a lot to say to you,
Or not a lot at the water’s shore,

    There is a something beyond,
That much I shall say to all left behind,
    Now that you are gone,
What’s left is what was on your mind,

    We both have difficulties,
    That much is true,
Maybe that’s why I stuck with you,
    Like Rubber and Glue,

So, remember us all, o’ friend,
Say a good word for us to skyward guy,
    So, one day coming,
    As angels we will fly.
