Resided in: Springvale, ME

February 2, 2021, we lost a one-of-a-kind man; a father, a husband, a brother, an uncle, and most a most cherished grandpa/papa. Brentwood "Brent" Lewis Hill passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at his home with his wife and sons by his side at the age of 74 years 6 months, and 17 days. Brentwood was his first name but often had to be repeated or spelled out because most people thought it was a first and last name or hyphenated, it always drove him crazy and therefore went by Brent. Brentwood was born July 16, 1946 to Herbert and Helen (Davis/Morrill) Hill in the small town of North Shapleigh, Maine, sibling of Vera, Carolyn, Myrtle and Wayne. Brentwood was a graduate of Sanford High School class of 1964 and a Veteran of the US Air Force. He held several jobs over his lifetime including a machinist, bus mechanic, and a chauffeur, as well as working at Aerofab and Cyro. He then worked for the Maine State Department of Transportation Bridge Construction and after an injury he held a third shift position at the old Million Dollar Bridge, now known as the Casco Bay Bridge, as a bridge operator until his retirement. Brent met his bride-to-be Rebecca "Becky" Clough in 1976 and married her in July of 1977. She was 12 years his younger and it was said many times it would never last and yet those words "till death do us part" was exactly that; they celebrated 43 years of marriage this past summer. They raised two boys, Christopher, and Adam, who are still residents of Sanford/Springvale. Dads younger years were filled with good times, fast cars, and motorcycles. We heard many of his stories, most of which we always thought were just that, but after talking with some of his friends from back then, we found those stories to be true events even though some were almost too crazy to believe. A few famous words from Herbert Hill, and several others ....... "Brentwood, no more DOES!!" Brent always had a love of the outdoors and was an avid hunter, spending a great amount of time with a fishing rod as well. He was happiest when he was either in the woods harvesting deer or, as he aged, seeing his children and his grandchildren being active with sports and successful in the great outdoors. Brentwood was a man who loved to drive and visit friends and family, he could often be found spending time with his beloved sisters either at their homes or at a nearby restaurant for breakfast. They would often meet up later in life to discuss the family tree and do some amazing work on their family tree scrap books. (Thank you Mrs. Fogg) Brentwood loved all his family members and was a man who would do absolutely anything for them, but not limited to his family he was often found picking up hitchhikers or helping complete strangers, even if it were in the most unrecognized ways. Along with his love for the outdoors, family and grandchildren, yard sales were always on his to-do list. He also loved his sports teams, and some found him to be a fixture at the Sanford Goodall Park. He had his favorite seat at the ballpark and would almost always be the first one through the gates to make sure he got his spot to watch the Sanford Mainers or a high school baseball game. Dad was always there for his kids sports and was often a volunteer even during his cancer treatments and made almost all his grandchildren's events. Brentwood leaves behind his wife Becky, a son Christopher and his wife, Kristen of Sanford and their five children (Canton, Kamryn, Cooper, Carson and Karlea Hill) and his son Adam and his two daughters (Kaleigh and Aleigha Hill) all of Sanford/Springvale. His sister Myrtle (Hill) Howard of North Shapleigh, Carolyn (Hill) Howard and husband, Steve, of Berwick and brother-in-law Gordan Parker of also of North Shapleigh as well as many nieces and nephews. Brentwood was predeceased by his parents, Herbert, and Helen; his brother Wayne D. Hill and sister Vera Ann Parker as well as his granddaughter, Kamdyn Virginia Hill, daughter of Christopher and Kristen. Dad was a true believer in Jesus Christ and wore the pages thin on his Bible. Dad would have wanted you all to know who Jesus is, so please help us rejoice in his life on this earth and now in Heaven. Jesus has you in his arms now Dad; you will forever be missed by many but never, ever forgotten. May you rest in peace and never have pain or heartache. Please watch over us till Jesus calls us home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 7th at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery located on Stanley Road in Springvale. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider sending a memorial contribution in Brentwood's name to any youth sports program, Sanford Mainers baseball, or any children's hospital or research. Arrangements are under the direction on Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
