Rene Fournier

Rene Joseph Fournier, (Papa), 68 of Sanford, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family and friends on Friday, May 14, 2021. He was born in Sanford on January 29, 1953 a son of the late Louis and Rachel (Payeur) Fournier. Rene's passions included fishing, music, photography and a love of collecting gadgets. He had a great zest for life especially in making people laugh. All who knew Rene appreciated his sense of humor. Rene he had a great admiration for his grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents as well as his siblings, Laurette Babcock, Roger Fournier, Jerry Fournier, Theresa Hatch, Dee Close, Clement Fournier, and Joseph Fournier. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Cindy Donovan, daughter, Tracy Smith, stepson, Chris Donovan and his wife, Jessica, brothers, Paul Fournier, Armand Fournier, sisters, Rose Marie Rose, Margaret Peters, Elaine Fournier, Claire Smith, six grandchildren, Cassandra Wallace and her husband, Josh, Anthony Smith, Zack Fournier and his wife, Lexi, Marshall, Garrett and Nora Donovan, six great grandchildren, Lily and Genna Wallace, Tadan, Eliana, Athena Fournier, Abigail Smith. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, May 26th at 1PM at the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to Hospice of Southern Maine.
