Ann Marie Neill

August 16, 1951 ~ June 7, 2021
Resided in:
Melrose, MA
Ann Marie Neill, 69, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at Melrose Wakefield Hospital in Melrose, MA after many years of fighting chronic illness.
She was born on August 16, 1951, the daughter of Ernest and Aline (Fleurant) Cloutier in Sanford where she grew up and attended local schools including St. Ignatius and Sanford High School, from which she graduated. Following high school, she attended college in Wichita, Kansas, and moved back to her home state of Maine to raise her family.
Ann spent the years when her children were young as a stay-at-home mom, often with more than 10 neighborhood children playing in the yard. She spent time as a volunteer EMT for Lisbon Emergency Ambulance Service, however she built her career as an English as a Second Language instructor, serving refugee and immigrant families in Maine. She was extremely dedicated to her work and loved her students and their families. She loved learning about their cultures and helping them learn ours. While teaching at both Sanford and Massabesic Adult Education, Ann helped hundreds of people prepare for, and receive, U.S. Citizenship.
Ann is remembered by her family and friends as a selfless, giving soul filled with light and unconditional love for those around her. She was caring, smart, strong, incredibly funny and had a laugh that was infectious to all who were lucky enough to hear it. She loved nothing more than to be surrounded by her family and friends at the lake (Mousam) where she could float and enjoy time at the camp with her grandchildren. Being a Nana was her utmost calling and her grandchildren (and grand dogs) will tell you that she was the absolute best Nana there was. She was always there with something new to teach or a treat. Both the human and furry grands knew exactly where Ann kept her treats.
She is predeceased by her mother and stepfather Aline and Ernest Cloutier and siblings Ronnie, Susie, Robert Fleurant and Jeanine Mercier and her husband Gerry.
Survivors include her daughter Misty Christian and her partner Frank Sewall of Nashua, NH, her daughter Robyn Lunsford and her husband Sean of Melrose, MA, her son Dylan Neill of Wildwood, FL, her grandchildren Isabella and Samara Tibbets, Brayden Lambert, and Emme Christian, her cousins Sharon and Hillary Neylan of Stuart FL, "bonus" grandchildren Thomas Christian, Madison and Jordan Sewall, and her four grand dogs, Lucy, Tessie, Oscar, and Wyatt.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 14, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. with an hour of visitation prior at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale with a burial at St. Ignatius Cemetery immediately after.
For those unable to attend serves in person the funeral will also be livestreamed on our Facebook page, Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Services.
Flowers are welcome, but donations to citizenshipworks.org, in lieu of flowers, are also appreciated.
Very sorry to learn of the loss of your Mother. I came to know her in the 90’s through my dear friend, who was a long time friend of your Mother-Theresa (Caron) Weyland. I liked Ann from the moment I met her & enjoyed her company when I saw her in the company of Theresa. I had heard her health had declined a lot in the past recent years. May you take comfort knowing this burden has been lifted from her. May loving memories & thoughts sustain you in the trying times. -Carrie Hagan

I am so sorry to hear of Ann’s passing. I worked with Ann at Massabesic and valued her knowledge and experience in working with adult learners. She made many close acquaintances with her students and helped many who struggled with learning to persevere.
May she Rest in Peace.
