In Loving Memory of Jason John McGarey
February 4, 1974 – November 4, 2026
With hearts full of love and cherished memories, we honor the life of our dad, Jason John McGarey, 52. On November 4, 2026, our family said a loving goodbye to someone who will forever hold a special place in our hearts. While we wish we could have shared many more years and moments together, we are grateful for the love, laughter, and memories that will always keep him close to us.
Our dad will always be remembered for his warm smile, the mischievous humor that sparkled in his bright brown eyes, and most of all, the love he had for his family. He had a generous heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Whether he was using his carpentry skills to fix or build something, helping someone through a difficult time, or caring for a loved one, Dad had a way of showing his love through the things he did for others. Those simple acts of kindness were part of what made him so special.
Jason leaves behind his loving daughters, Destiny McGarey of Wells and Kaitlin McGarey of Arundel; Kaitlin’s fiancé, Jon Hansen; his cherished granddaughter, Juliana; the mother of his daughters, Rebekah McGarey of Sanford; his devoted father, John McGarey of Wells; and his brother, Christopher McGarey of Saco, as well dozens of aunts, uncles and cousins who adored him.
He was predeceased by his beloved mother, Deborah McGarey, lovingly known as Nannie.
Funeral arrangements have been lovingly entrusted to Black Heald & Walker Funeral Home, located at 580 Main Street, Springvale, Maine.
Family, friends, and all who have shared in Jason’s life are warmly invited to gather in celebration of the love, laughter, and special moments he brought into their lives.
Services are pending and will be announced as soon as times are set.
A Loving Tribute from His Daughters
Dad, how do we begin to say goodbye to someone who has been a part of us our entire lives? There are no words big enough to express how much we love you, how much we will miss you, or how deeply we wish we had more time.
We weren’t ready for goodbye. We weren’t ready for the last conversation, the last laugh, or the last time we would hear your voice. If we could have just one more moment, we would hold you a little tighter, stay a little longer, and make sure you knew just how much you meant to us.
We will miss your smile and that familiar twinkle in your brown eyes that always seemed to hold a little bit of mischief. We will miss your humor, your helping hands, and the way you showed your love through the things you did. It’s the little things we will miss the most—the things we may not have realized would one day become such precious memories.
Dad, life wasn’t always perfect, and neither were any of us, but the love between a father and his daughters is something that time, distance, and even goodbye can never take away. Through every chapter of our lives, you were our dad, and we were your girls. That will never change.
There is so much more we wanted you to be here for. More birthdays, more holidays, more family gatherings, and all the ordinary days that we now know are anything but ordinary. We wish you could be here to watch our lives unfold, to see Juliana grow, and to share in all the moments still to come. We will carry you into each of those moments, even though we wish more than anything that you could be there beside us.
We hope you knew how deeply you were loved, Dad. Not just in the big moments, but in the quiet, everyday ways that are sometimes the hardest to put into words. We hope you knew that having you as our father was a part of who we are and always will be.
We find comfort in imagining you reunited with your mom, our beloved Nannie, surrounded by peace and love. And while our hearts ache knowing we cannot make another memory with you, we promise to hold tightly to the ones we have.
We will speak your name, tell your stories, remember your laughter, and look for that familiar sparkle in the eyes of those who carry a little piece of you. We will keep your memory alive, not only in the way we remember you, but in the love and kindness we share with others.
Dad, if love alone could have kept you here, we would have had you forever.
We would give anything for one more hug, one more laugh, one more chance to say, “We love you, Dad.” But until we meet again, please know that you will never be forgotten, never stop being loved, and never stop being our dad.
You may no longer be here to hold our hands, but you will forever hold a place in our hearts.
All our love, always and forever,
Your girls,
Kaitlin & Destiny
