Sanet “Nay” Saing

January 21, 1980 ~ October 11, 2026

Sanet “Nay” Saing, 46, of Sanford, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 11, 2026, while doing something he loved. His sudden passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family, his many friends, and all those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Sanet was born in Thailand on January 21, 1980, the son of Phim Saing and Savin Meas. As a young child, he came to the United States with his parents as refugees, beginning a new chapter in a country that would become his home. His family settled in Sanford, Maine, where Sanet grew up, attended local schools, and graduated from Sanford High School in 1998. From those early years, he developed the friendships, values, and sense of community that would remain important to him throughout his life.

During his working years, Sanet was employed for many years as an engineer at Velco in Rochester, New Hampshire. He was intelligent, hardworking, and possessed a natural ability to approach life’s challenges with a thoughtful and levelheaded perspective. Those who knew him often spoke of his wisdom and his remarkable ability to offer advice that was both practical and meaningful. He had a way of helping others see the brighter side of even the most difficult situations.

Sanet embraced life with an enthusiasm that was truly contagious. An avid golfer, he had a deep love for the game and enjoyed traveling throughout the country to experience different courses. For Sanet, golf was about much more than the game itself. It was about the friendships, the laughter, the friendly competition, and the memories made along the way. He developed a wide circle of friends within the golfing community, many of whom became an important part of his life.

His interests extended well beyond the golf course. He enjoyed playing tennis and was a familiar and well-liked member of the poker community at the Seabrook Poker Room, where he enjoyed the competition and camaraderie around the table. Sanet also loved music and enjoyed DJing at parties, bringing people together and adding to the fun of any gathering. Whether he was on a golf course, sitting at a poker table, playing music, or simply spending time with friends, Sanet had a gift for making ordinary moments memorable.

But as much as Sanet enjoyed his many hobbies and adventures, it was his relationships with others that truly defined his life. He was a loving and devoted brother and uncle who cherished his family deeply. He shared a special bond with his nieces and nephews and took genuine pleasure in being part of their lives. He was someone his family could turn to for encouragement, guidance, or simply a listening ear. His love for them was evident not only in his words, but in the time he spent with them and the countless ways he showed that he cared.

Perhaps what will be remembered most about Sanet was his extraordinary outlook on life. Many who knew him described him as the most positive person they had ever met. He had an infectious optimism, a welcoming personality, and an ability to find something good in nearly every situation. Outgoing and genuinely friendly, Sanet never seemed to meet a stranger. He made friends easily, but more importantly, he made people feel valued. He was the kind of person who could brighten someone’s day with a conversation, offer words of wisdom when they were needed most, or bring a smile to someone’s face simply by being himself.

There are people who leave a lasting impression not because of grand accomplishments or recognition, but because of the way they make others feel. Sanet was one of those rare individuals. He lived with kindness, generosity, friendship, and an appreciation for life’s experiences. He understood that life was meant to be enjoyed, that friendships were meant to be treasured, and that the people we love are what matter most.

Although his life ended far too soon, Sanet filled his 46 years with experiences, adventures, laughter, and meaningful connections that many people spend a lifetime hoping to find. His family and friends will forever wish they had more time with him, but they can take comfort in knowing how fully he embraced the time he was given. His positive spirit, his wisdom, and his genuine love for others will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone whose life he touched.

Sanet is lovingly remembered by his sister, Sanin Saing of Sanford; his sister-in-law, Tina Saing of Springvale; his nieces, Anna Saing of Springvale and Rosetta Kong of Portland; his nephews, Brandon and Alex Kong of Sanford; as well as several extended family members and a tremendous circle of friends, particularly those within the golfing community.

He was predeceased by his brother, Sanoeun Saing.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Black Heald & Walker Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. A funeral service celebrating Sanet’s life will follow at the funeral home at 4:00 PM.

Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather at the family home for a celebration of Sanet’s life, an opportunity to share stories, laughter, and cherished memories of a man who brought so much happiness to the lives of others.

Sanet’s time with us was far too short, but the joy he brought into this world was immeasurable. He will be remembered not for the years he lived, but for the countless lives he brightened along the way.
