Resided in:
Sanford, Maine
Jeffery Errold Donahue, 57, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023, in Sanford, Maine, following a long illness.
Jeff is remembered for his adventurous spirit, sharp wit, sarcasm, love of comedy, and legendary memes—but above all, for his deep patriotism. He was a freedom-fighter at heart: a constitutionalist, a truth seeker, and a truth speaker. Jeff never hesitated to stand up for what he believed in, especially when it came to defending the rights and freedoms he cherished. He proudly flew the American flag, even having a custom flag made for his motorcycle. As a former member of the Maine Patriot Riders in Sanford, he considered it an honor to carry the flag while escorting veterans during funeral processions and flag lines.
He is also remembered for his advocacy work through Health Choice Maine. Jeff made his mark in Maine courts by successfully defending himself after being denied a medical exemption and accommodation by his town. Jeff was criminally charged for refusing to wear a mask outdoors at the Acton Transfer Station. The dismissal of all charges while representing himself in court was one of his proudest victories.
A 14-year lung cancer survivor, Jeff continued to face ongoing complications after a life-threatening battle with COVID. Over the last year and a half of his life, Jeff embraced every moment. He traveled up and down the East Coast in his camper with his beloved dog and best friend, Tina, enjoying their shared life of freedom and discovery. Jeff found joy in nature, boating, kayaking, camping, grilling, fishing, exploring parks and beaches, meeting new people, listening to their stories, and telling plenty of his own. He lived each day fully, knowing how precious each one was.
A private graveside memorial service was held on Sunday, September 17, 2023, surrounded by family and friends, followed by a celebration of life at the family camp. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Patriot Riders of America–Maine Chapter #1, Sanford, for honoring Jeff by standing graveside while flying his flag.
Jeff is lovingly remembered by his twin flame, Kerri; his mother, Patricia Johnston; his sisters Julie, Donna, and Leeanne; his faithful companion, Cousin Vinny; and the love of his life—his sweet dog, Tina. Jeff was predeceased by his father, Errold O. Donahue.
