Douglas P. Blodgett Sr.

Saco- Douglas P. Blodgett, Sr., 86, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Northern Light Mercy Hospital after a brief illness.

Douglas was born June 8, 1940, in Portland, Maine, son of the late Albert J. Blodgett, Sr. and Frances (Curran) Blodgett. He was a graduate and Salutatorian of Portland High School Class of 1958 and went on to further his education by graduating from Bowdoin College in 1962 with a bachelor’s degree.

He worked as a Mail Handler for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years until his retirement. He previously owned and operated a mom-and-pop corner store in the early 1980’s

Above all Douglas treasured the times he spent with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed walking the Eastern Trail, candlepin bowling and had a great impersonation of Donald Duck.

Douglas is survived by his three children John M. Blodgett of Lincolnville, ME, Douglas P. Blodgett, Jr. and his wife Buffy of Portland and Theresa Weisman and her husband Brian of Davie, FL. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Robert, Allison and Lindsay, his brother James Blodgett and his wife Linda of Minnesota, Shirley A. Blodgett the mother of his children, his sisters-in-law Nancy Ann Blodgett and Susan Blodgett as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Douglas is predeceased by his brothers Donald and Albert Blodgett.

Douglas’ Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 150 Black Point Road, Scarborough on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Interment will immediately follow in Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.

Arrangements are in the care of Conroy Tully Walker Funeral Home of South Portland, 1024 Broadway, South Portland.
