Elaine R. Garneau

Elaine R. Garneau, 81, of North Berwick, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, July 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Portland, Maine, on August 7, 1944, Elaine was the daughter of Leonard and Marlyte (Lehoux) Caron. She was raised in Somersworth, New Hampshire, where she attended local schools and graduated from Somersworth High School with the Class of 1962.

As a young woman, Elaine shared a special bond with her grandparents, Wilfred and Laura Lehoux, who played an important role in her life. The love, guidance, and time they shared together became treasured memories that she carried with her throughout her life.

Elaine was a dedicated and hardworking woman who held a variety of jobs over the years. She worked as a bartender, a nursing assistant, and later as a school bus driver. No matter where she worked, she was known for her dependable nature, quiet strength, and caring spirit.

Home and family were always at the center of Elaine’s life. She was a kind, gentle, and loving woman who found great happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed quilting, baking, canning vegetables, and spending quiet days at home surrounded by those she loved. An avid animal lover, Elaine generously volunteered her time with Second Chance Animal Rescue, where her compassion for animals touched many lives.

Elaine was very proud of the fact that she helped to design and build the home where she lived, creating a place filled with warmth, comfort, and countless family memories. Above all else, she was a loving and devoted mother whose greatest joy was her children. Her quiet wisdom, unconditional love, and gentle encouragement will remain in their hearts forever.

Elaine is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Laura Duffy and her husband, Sean, of Lebanon; her son, Aaron Garneau and his significant other, Nicki Ramian, of Dover, New Hampshire; her brother, Rosaire Caron of Florida; her sister, Rene Saucier of South Carolina; her special cousins, Nelson and Jean Begin of North Berwick, along with their beloved dog, Lucy; and several nieces and nephews.

The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Wentworth Hospice Care for the exceptional care, kindness, and compassion shown to Elaine and her loved ones during her period of declining health. Their support and dedication brought great comfort during a difficult time and will always be remembered with gratitude.

Honoring Elaine’s wishes, all services will be private.
