Shawn D. Bergeron

January 24, 1971 ~ February 10, 2026

Shawn D. Bergeron, 55, of Athens, Tennessee, passed away on February 10, 2026, in Athens

Shawn was born in Sanford, Maine on January 24, where he grew up and attended local schools.  After completing his education, he followed his entrepreneurial spirit and started his own business, Platinum Painting, which he proudly owned and operated for many years.  Known for his strong work ethic and pride in his craft, Shawn also spent several years painting for the Stage Neck Inn in York.  In 2023, he relocated to Athens, Tennessee.

Shawn had a deep love for sports and competition, especially on the softball field.  For many years he played in a local men’s softball league, including several memorable seasons alongside his father and brother on the Elks Lodge team.  The trio was even featured together in a Journal Tribune article celebrating the special experience of three family members playing side-by-side on the same team, something Shawn was very proud of.

Beyond softball, Shawn enjoyed playing darts, shooting pool and going bowling.  He was an avid sports fan who loved cheering on local teams and sharing the excitement of the game with friends and family.

More than anything, Shawn will be remembered for his personality.  He was friendly, outgoing, and had a way of making people feel welcome wherever he went.  Shawn truly never met a stranger; he made friends easily and maintained a large circle of people who appreciated his warmth and kindness. With his quick wit and great sense of humor, he loved joking around and making people laugh.  Shawn always wanted everyone around him to feel included and his easygoing nature made him someone people naturally gravitated toward.

He was a longtime member of the Sanford Elks Lodge and was also a member of the Lafayette Social Club, the Wolves Club and the Springvale Social Club.  Above all, Shawn was a loving and devoted father, son, grandfather and brother who cherished his family deeply.  His presence, laughter and friendship will be dearly missed by all who knew him.  Shawn’s laughter, kindness and generous spirit will live on in the many lives he touched.

Shawn is survived by his son, Shawn Boston and his wife Kaelyn of Parsonsfield; his father and stepmother, Daniel and Margaret Bergeron of Sanford, Maine; his mother, Gale Bergeron of Sellersburg, Indiana; his brother Chad Bergeron and his wife Rebecca of Sellersburg, Indiana; his two grandchildren, Lauren and Avery Boston; and several nieces and nephews, Taylor Bergeron, Harper Bergeron-Berthiaume, Weston Bergeron and his wife McKenzie, Silas Bergeron along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

A celebration of Life will be held from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 4th at the Sanford Elks Lodge located on Elm Street in Sanford.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7 :00 PM on Friday, May 8th at Black-Heald & Walker Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale.
