Gary Wilcox

August 20, 1946 ~ March 1, 2026

Portland – Gary Wilcox, 79, passed away on March 1, 2026, at the Gosnell Hospice House. He was born on August 20, 1946, in Portland, Maine, the son of the late Allie and Rose Wilcox.

Gary spent much of his life working hard and staying connected to his community. As a young man, he worked on the Portland waterfront, and later worked for over 20 years with R.C. Audet, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication.

A longtime member of Alcoholics Anonymous, Gary found strength and fellowship in the AA community. He also gave back by volunteering at Milestone, offering support and encouragement to others on their own journeys.

Gary is survived by his children: Sherry Chapman and her husband, Steven, Gary Wilcox Jr., Jennifer Wilcox, and Allie Wilcox and his wife, Amy; many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins; and three great-grandchild; and a great great nephew, Caden Bowden.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Dorothy Latham, Ida Dugas, Sharlene Mills, and Mary Hitchcock; and his brothers, Cliff, Freddy, Billy, and Ray Wilcox.

Visitation will be held from 8:30am-9am on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at the new Conroy-Tully Walker Cremation, Funeral & Gathering Center, 300 Allen Avenue, Portland. Prayers will be recited at 9am at the Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am, on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception, 307 Congress Street, Portland. Burial will immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
