Jeanette Conley
December 26, 1933 ~ January 22, 2026
Portland – Jeanette Conley, 92, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, at the Gosnell Hospice House.
She was born on December 26, 1933, in Portland, Maine, the daughter of the late James and Margaret Crane. Jeanette graduated from Deering High School and was married to John Conley at St. Patrick’s Church in Portland. Together, they raised their family in South Portland, where Jeanette devoted herself wholeheartedly to her faith, family, and community.
A lifelong Catholic, Jeanette taught CCD for 18 years at St. John the Evangelist Church in South Portland. She was especially known for baking chocolate chip cookies for her students and her children’s friends—a small gesture that left a big impression and became one of her cherished trademarks.
Jeanette found joy in bowling leagues, playing bridge, arts and crafts while creating Christmas ornaments. She loved reading and playing bingo and treasured time spent at the beach, enjoying family picnics, and spending the day at Two Lights. A wonderful cook, she continued baking well into her later years, delighting her grandchildren with homemade treats and care packages sent with love.
She was predeceased by her sister, Marjorie York. Jeanette is survived by her children, Beth Robichaud and husband Scott, Gae Jackson and husband Craig, Joanne Bush and husband Jeff, and James Conley and wife Jennifer; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 11am-12pm at the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home of South Portland, 1024 Broadway. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12pm. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
