Born in: Rochester, New Hampshire
Resided in: Kennebunk, Maine

Keith Robert Edmonds died peacefully in the arms of his loving wife and family on January 21, 2026, 3 days before his 71st birthday, from complications of Parkinson’s Disease.

Keith was born on January 24, 1955 in Rochester, NH to Janice (Hussey) Edmonds and A. Raymond Edmonds.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years Paula (Keefe) Edmonds, of Kennebunk, his son Christopher R. Edmonds, his wife Mandy and their daughter Violet of Sanford, his son Ryan K. Edmonds, his wife Angela and their children Paige and Calvin of Saco, his brother Paul Edmonds and his wife Charline of Sanford, his brother John Edmonds and his wife Carolyn of Sanford, and his sister Marian Edmonds-Allen and her spouse, Tori Allen of Pleasant View, Utah, as well as several nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters in-law, and cousins.

Keith started school in North Berwick, but the family moved to El Pond in Sanford in 1964 where he enrolled in the Sanford School system and graduated from Sanford High School in 1973. In high school, Keith excelled on the Track Team, was named MVP of the team his senior year, and held the school’s record for the Long Jump for several years.

Keith was an excellent athlete and could play any sport well, but he especially enjoyed downhill skiing and mountain bike riding. In the early 90s, he learned how to snowboard and became an instructor/coach at the Gunstock Ski Area in Laconia, NH where he taught lessons on the weekends and coached a young snowboard racing team. He was always available to help with his sons’ sporting activities and coached several basketball and baseball teams over the years. Keith enjoyed mountain bike riding with his friends from the local bike shop and participated with them in the 24 hour bike race at Mount Washington in New Hampshire.

Keith was always a hard worker starting as a teenager working as a Camp Counselor at the YMCA Day Camp in Sanford and later as a Water Safety Instructor at Camp Waban. He started his career as an X-ray Technologist having obtained an Associates Degree from the University of Vermont in Burlington in 1977. He first worked at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta and then at Goodall Hospital in Sanford. In September 1979, he was hired by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in North Berwick to x-ray jet engine parts. There he worked his way up in the company and continued his education at the University of Southern Maine taking one course at a time until he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Technology in 1993. He retired from Pratt & Whitney as a Supplier Quality Engineer after 34 years in 2013, but then went back to work in 2014 at the same plant for Belcan Corporation (a contractor for P&W) as a Quality Engineer and retired permanently in 2019.

Over the years Keith worked part-time at several different restaurants and for his brother’s catering business as chief cook and bottle washer. He became a good cook and grill master, a job he often performed for his family at home. He was always willing to pitch in and do whatever was necessary to help his friends and family. He was always present for his children and grandchildren whom he adored. He was a great dad and he was very proud of his sons. He enjoyed going to all of the activities that his grandchildren participated in. As his Parkinson’s disease progressed and limited his movement, he felt badly that he wasn’t able to contribute more to their sporting activities.

Keith and Paula were in the same class at Sanford High School and started dating at the end of their senior year. In November of 1977 following their college graduations, they married and became a team. Paula stayed at home for several years following the births of their two sons and in 1989, they built a new home in Springvale where they lived and raised the boys for 35 years. Paula started teaching in 1995 at Sanford High School where she remained for 20 years. Keith and Paula loved to travel and went on many memorable trips both in the United States and Europe. They took the boys to Breckenridge, Colorado, they went with the entire family to Walt Disney World in 2019, they traveled to Hawaii twice, Oregon, Utah and Colorado. Keith especially enjoyed Switzerland and France where they attended the opening of the Tour de France bike race, and Amsterdam where he and Paula rode bicycles. In 2024, they sold their beloved home in Springvale and downsized to a condo in Kennebunk.

A time of visitation will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Black Heald and Walker Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 11:00 at North Berwick Congregational Church, 15 High St., North Berwick.
