Carol A. Goodwin

November 7, 1951 ~ January 20, 2026

Born in: Sanford, Maine
Resided in: Shapleigh, Maine

Carol Ann Goodwin, 74, of Shapleigh, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, with loved ones by her side.

Carol was born on November 7, 1951, in Sanford, the daughter of Raymond and Rose (Fawcett). She grew up in Sanford and graduated from Sanford High School with the Class of 1970.

Through her working life, she was employed at several nursing homes, as well as at The Giant Department Store. In 1973, she obtained her real estate license, beginning a successful and fulfilling career that spanned more than 40 years. Carol worked with the Drown Agency, where she managed offices in Limerick and Sanford, then with the Masiello Group, managing the Sanford office for several years. She eventually retired alongside her husband, Gary, and together they enjoyed winters in Longs, South Carolina, while spending their summers at home in Shapleigh.

Carol truly loved the outdoors. She took great pride in her gardens, especially her gorgeous roses and daylilies, and enjoyed birdwatching, motorcycle riding, snowmobiling, and spending time at the beach. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed working outside. Carol was intelligent, loving, caring, and compassionate, a natural caregiver to many. She was devoted to her family, had faith in God, and was known as a hardworking woman who always put others first.

She also held a special place in her heart for her beloved late dogs, Chuckie, Lady, and Rocky, who brought her great joy and companionship over the years.

Carol is survived by her husband and best friend of 56 years, Gary Goodwin of Shapleigh; her son, Ronald Goodwin and his girlfriend Jamie Tatum of Rochester, New Hampshire; her brother, David Fawcett of Sanford; her sister, Brenda Wood and her husband Steve of Calabash, North Carolina; sisters-in-law Barbara Douglass of Knoxville, Tennessee, Margery Spears of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Sally Goodwin of East Lebanon; her brother-in-law, Philip Goodwin of Spring Lake, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

Carol will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and love for her family and all those fortunate enough to know her.
A graveside service will be held at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in the spring.
