Linwood R. "Woody" Leland

South Portland- Mr. Linwood R. “Woody” Leland, 73, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough with his loving wife Kristi at his side.
Woody was born on August 20, 1952, in Portland, Maine. He is the son of the late Walter Edward Leland and Doris Ina (Morrill) Timmons-Murray. He was a graduate of the Nursing Program at Central Maine Medical Center, where he met Kristi.
Woody worked at Maine Medical Center/Maine Health as a Registered Nurse for over 49 years.
He is the loving husband of Kristi (Landry) Leland with whom he shared 47 years of marriage. He is also survived by 4 sons, Jarad, Jediah and his fiancé Ann, Elias and his fiancé Michelle, and Matthias; 2 grandchildren, Addyson and Alivia and their mother Airel. His 2 sisters Beverly Giroux and Susan Leo and her husband Brian.
In addition to his parents, Woody is also predeceased by his brother Walter Leland.
Woody’s Celebration of Life will be in the Spring of 2026 a date and time will be announced.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home of South Portland, 1024 Broadway, South Portland.

Woody was a professional photographer, having done many, many weddings over the years. He really enjoyed that work, along with his nursing. He also did many photos for numerous theaters in the area. I will miss going to Ogunquit, Portland Players, and Brunswick…..he introduced me to the world of theater, and we spent many, many hours at them. Joanna, a delightful friend, and my Mom and Woody and I, used to go to most of the theaters in the areas…….Now, with those 3 gone….I have the memories.
I am so sad to hear this. I worked at MMC with Woody for many years. He was such a sweet guy. He had his photography business on the side. He did my wedding photos back then. RIP Woody. My condolences to all his family. ❤️
I have known Woody for ever! I am so sad to see this! I would run in to him at the funniest time. He came and did family pictures over the years . The last time was for my dad’s 70th birthday. Woody thought that it was my mom’s birthday. What a mix up! Pictures still came out perfect. He also was a wonderful nurse. The world loss a wonderful person.

My deepest sympathies to Leland’s family and friends. We were school pals and sadly lost touch after graduation but I have fond memories of our friendship.
I am so very sorry to hear this. I remember Woody from Greely; he was always running around school taking photographs for the yearbook. I also had the privilege of working with him at Maine Medical. He was a very kind man, and a pleasure to work with. This is truly a loss. My sincere condolences to his family and close friends.
I’m so sorry to hear this. I worked with Woody at Maine Medical, I’ve known him for many years. Woody was a kind man, a good friend, and an amazing photographer and woodworker. He assisted me with several projects that were over my head, but with his calm demeanor and helpful advice, he got me thru it every time. My sincere condolences go out to the Leland family and Friends.
Oh my he will be greatly missed by so many! Worked with him for many many years at MMC. He was my partner in crime dealing with duplicates. A great photographer who blessed me with some great family photos.

He was one of the few men I know that would speak from the heart on so many subjects, whether it be his belief of God or his deep love for his wife and boys. We never talked politics, which I loved! The world lost a good one on December 12th. RIP Woody
