Jaime Fajardo Montenegro
10/28/1929 – 11/23/25

Jaime Fajardo Montenegro passed away peacefully surrounded by family and caregivers on November 23, 2025, at the Barron Center in Portland, ME. He was born on October 28, 1929, in Bogotá, Colombia to Alfredo and Silvia Montenegro Fajardo. He was the third of five siblings: Clara, Olga, Manuel, and Herman. Jaime lived all 96 years of his life fully.

Jaime married Edna Lopez and they started a loving family, beginning with their four children: Clara, Claudia, Jaime, and Catalina. Eventually, their family would grow to include their children’s spouses and their families, spanning across North and South America. Overtime, they’d all immigrate to the United States and reunite in Sanford, ME, where the family expanded even more to include 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Before immigrating to the US in1984, Jaime served the Colombian Federal Agency for Customs and Border Protection for 15 years. He also led a very successful career as a real estate agent for 10 years. Upon joining his children, Jaime and Clara, to start a new life in America, he immediately accepted a position at Hussey Seating in North Berwick, ME, where he diligently worked in assembly and painting for 15 years, until he retired.

Following his retirement, Jaime and Edna kept busy hosting large family gatherings with delicious food, lively music, and dancing. They also traveled the world—including back and forth to Colombia to visit his surviving siblings and extended family members. In 2023, at the age of 92, Jaime made one last trip back to his home country to celebrate his granddaughter’s birthday among a huge gathering of immediate and extended family. Once again, he joyfully danced, reminding multiple generations of the importance of living life to the fullest.

Many, many people will remember Jaime fondly, but he will be missed most by his four children and their spouses, Roberto Galvez and Lien Fajardo; and his grandchildren: Jennifer, James, Jaime Andres, Christine, Yvonne, Alejandro, Andres, Andrea, Carolina, Amalia, Sebastian, Isaiah, Isabel, Hugo, Alessia, Marcos, Camilla, Tiago, and Brooks.

Visiting hours will be on Monday, December 1 at Black-Heald Walker Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, from 10am to 12pm and from 4pm to 7pm. A service will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 2 at 3:30pm. He will be laid to rest beside Edna this coming spring at Oakdale Cemetery, Sanford.
