David J. Frichling

February 24, 1967 ~ November 15, 2025

David J. Frischling, 58, of Acton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Mass General Hospital in Boston.

David was born in Los Angeles, California on February 24, 1967, the son of Edwin and Sybil (Rosman) Frischling. He grew up in West Covina and attended local schools, graduating from West Covina High School in 1985. He went on to study at the University of California, Santa Cruz, an experience that helped shape both his curiosity and his deep appreciation for the natural world.

After college, David built a long career in the computer industry, where his analytical mind, creativity, and steady presence made him both trusted and admired. In 2003, following the passing of his father, he made the life-changing decision to move to Maine in search of a quieter, more peaceful lifestyle. There he found a sense of home in the woods, lakes, and small-town community that embraced him.

David was a man of many passions. He loved fishing and hiking, finding solace in the outdoors and joy in its simple gifts. He had an adventurous palate and delighted in trying new foods—especially organic dishes and cuisine from many cultures. A dedicated sports fan, he followed the Lakers and Dodgers faithfully, no matter how far from California he lived.

Animals held a special place in his heart, particularly dogs, and he shared an especially close bond with his beloved Roscoe. Although he was a quiet man who cherished time at home, David formed deep and lasting friendships. For someone who described himself as a homebody, he had an impressive circle of people who cared deeply for him.

David was unapologetically unique, a quality he embraced wholeheartedly. He had strong convictions, a generous spirit, and was always willing to lend a hand. His knowledge of wild and edible plants was remarkable, and he spent many happy hours foraging for mushrooms, berries, and other treasures of the Maine woods.

He was, at his core, a good man—kind, thoughtful, and profoundly himself. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

David is survived by his life partner, Sabrina Stevens of Acton; his brother, Gary Frischling and wife Cindy of Santa Monica, California; his sister, Corinne Offerman and husband Tom of Temecula, California; and four nieces, Samantha and Rebecca Frischling, and Hannah and Emily Offerman.

Arrangements for David will be private.

Arrangements are under the direction of Black-Heald & Walker Funeral Home, Sanford–Springvale.
