
Arundel, Maine – Martha Ruppel Dzialo passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025.
She was born on October 18, 1951 in New York City to the late Harry and Louise Ruppel. She was raised in Douglaston Manor, New York and Sharon, Connecticut. There she established her commitment to community and family. While in high school she was recognized for her volunteer work with children in the South Bronx. In college she participated in actions in Washington D.C. to end the war in Vietnam. Martha traveled throughout Europe with friends in her VW Beetle, embracing adventure and a love of culture that stayed with her throughout her life.
A woman with a generous spirit, she was always eager to help others. During the 38 years she lived in Lyman, Maine, she devoted her time as a girl scout leader as well as a volunteer at Cousens and Lyman Elementary School. She was proud of successfully creating a school bus stop for the young children in her neighborhood. Her commitment to the education of the children of Lyman, Maine included being elected to multiple terms as a school board member of SAD 57.
Martha worked in the hospitals in Connecticut, Massachusetts, North Carolina and Maine. She retired from Laboratory Billing Services, Saco, Maine in 2016.
Martha is survived by her husband of 48 years, Raymond; daughter, Krystyna Dzialo and husband Raymond Vallee, Jr. of Hallowell, ME; son, Benjamin and wife Carla Dzialo of Bayville, NY; her seven grandchildren, Abigail Bourgoin, Oliver and Hazel Vallee, William, Isabelle and Vivienne Dzialo and Lilia Olsson. She is also survived by her sisters, Kathleen Reidy Danvers, MA , Sara Currier, Danvers MA, Louise Pagano Bethel, CT; and her brother, Michael Ruppel and wife Debbie of Millerton, NY; as well many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Martha’s life will be held on November 16, 2025 from 12-3pm at Joseph’s by the Sea, Old Orchard Beach, ME.
