Kennebunk, ME – Gail V. (Allen) Cain, 81, passed away on September 5, 2025, at Kennebunk Center for Health and Rehabilitation. Gail was born on May 9, 1944, in Worcester, MA, daughter of the late John and Tony (Ouiette) Allen.

Gail graduated from North High School in Worcester Massachusetts and went on to pursue a Secretarial Position at State Mutual Insurance also in Worcester. She subsequently married and stayed home to raise her children and care for the farm. Gail loved animals and had several including a goat, chickens, ducks, a pony and her beloved horse, Irish. She became an avid horse rider and learned to ride both English and Western seats.

She eventually returned to work at Sweet Life Foods where she would go on to meet her second husband and love of her life, Ronald. Together and with their children they enjoyed camping and boating.

Upon retirement they traveled across the country until they finally settled in Zephyrhills Florida. Throughout their years together they fostered countless treasured friendships, many of which they maintain to this day.

Gail was predeceased by her sister, Pauline Gunnard. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Ron Cain; Ron Jr., and his wife, Terry, Chad, Tracy and her husband Jim, Casi and her husband, Rob, John and his partner, Krista, and Jason; 12 grandchildren, 4 great- grandchildren; sister, Jane and her husband Jim; brother, John and his wife Linda, and many beloved extended family members and friends from Florida and Massachusetts.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the team at Kennebunk Center for Health and Rehabilitation for their care of Gail and making it possible for her husband to stay and visit; and especially to Sue Nolan for transporting Ron to these special visits with Gail three days a week for the last year.

Services for Gail will be held in private with her family.

  1. Tracy and John, I’m so sorry to hear of your mom’s passing..I remember happy times with “Irish” and how she loved that horse. May she rest in peace.
