Windham – Joan B. Munroe, 91, passed away on September 22, 2025, in Scarborough. Joan was born on April 15, 1934, in Portland, the daughter of the late Frank and Gertrude (Wallace) Munroe.

Joan attended schools in South Portland. She was a life member of the American Legion Aux. in Westbrook, Post 197, the V.F.W. Aux. in Portland, Post 6859, and the Eagles Aux Aerie 2977. Joan enjoyed reading, dancing, karaoke, and spending time with her family.

Joan was predeceased by her husband, of 20 years, Robert A. Munroe; sons, Timothy Patrick and William S. Munroe; grandson, William “Billy” Munroe; brothers, Duke Knight and Donald Wallace; sister, Mary Martin Foss; daughter-in-law, Eleita Munroe; close friends, Alice Ricci and Pam Welch. She is survived by her children, Barbara Adriance, Rose Roberts, Robert Munroe II, Charles, and John Munroe; sister, Charlene Tibbetts; 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Visting Hours will be held from 9:30am – 11am on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home of Portland, 172 State St., Portland. A Funeral Service will begin at 11am; interment to follow at Knight Cemetery, 134 Brand Rd. Windham.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Joan’s memory to Windham Fire-Rescue, 375 Gray Rd. Windham, ME 04062, or please take a moment to thank a veteran for their service or extend a kind gesture to a veteran in your community.

Unfortunately, your services will take place prior to my upcoming trip to Maine, so I can’t be there to say goodbye. However, I know you are now in a better place and no longer suffering or in pain.   4. She was a very nice lady. She always came in the club and sat down and talked to everybody and enjoyed herself. She came in the lot with Pam Welch especially on Sundays for the nice food. They were good friends they they rest in peace together.
