Susan M. Herman

Susan Mae Herman, 76, of Sanford, Maine, passed away peacefully at her home on June 29, 2025.

Born December 22, 1948, in Mishawaka, Indiana, Susan was a proud Hoosier who made Maine her permanent home with her family. She was the beloved mother of three children, Patrick, of Randolph, Vermont, David, of Parsonsfield, Maine, and Elizabeth, of Orange, California, all of whom inherited her wit and independence. Susan was the “best mom ever.” Her parents were Genevieve and Herbert H. Herman. Susan also had one brother, Steven G. Herman. Susan is also grieved by her former husband, Joel E. Nevers, of Biddeford, Maine, and his wife, Linda.

Susan had a soft spot in her heart for her backyard squirrels and chipmunks, dogs, and most of all, cats. She spent her time and any extra money supporting local animal rescues. Her favorite was Another Chance Animal Rescue in Sanford, a local rescue she believed in deeply. In keeping with her wishes, no funeral or memorial will be held.
