Gregory Dean Harris

Naples – Gregory Dean Harris, 67, passed away on July 1, 2025, at his home in Naples. Greg was born on April 18, 1958, in Portland. He was the son of the late Robert Harris and Natalie (Sellick) Lessor.

Greg was a graduate of Deering High School. During his teenage years he was a member of the 5^th Maine Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps, where he formed some of his fondest memories and lasting friendships. After school and with young kids, he worked tirelessly remodeling an apartment home on Sawyer St. in South Portland.  A labor of love, the apartment home sold, and Greg moved with his family out of the city and to the Lake Region area where he raised his 5 children in Naples.

Greg was a master handyman who truly was a jack of all trades. A lifelong craftsman, he took great pride in his work and in the simple, honest living that defined him. Whether he was wiring a house, managing a camp property, restoring a porch, or building play sets on stage for the community theatre, Greg believed in doing things the right way — not the easy way.

Greg’s creativity shined through during his time with both the Lake Region High School and Lake Region Community Theatre designing and building sets for plays. He developed a love and appreciation for theater. Being a part of the community shows were some if his most cherished working years.

But his proudest creations by far were his five children. He was happy to tell anyone about their accomplishments — large or small. His deep love, quiet support, creative spirit, and stubbornness shaped not only the people they have become, but values they share. Greg’s legacy lives on in some of the lessons he passed down, especially the value of hard work and the importance of family.

Greg was predeceased by an infant sister, Robyn Harris; brothers, Scott and Robert Harris. Greg is survived by his children, Shawn Harris, Andrea and her wife Dawn Harris, Sarah and her husband Mathieu Lesgourgues, Allison and her wife Megan Gaedje, and Brian Harris; grandchildren, Cadence, Ruby, Logan, and Juniper Harris, Aidan and Liam Lesgourgues; sisters, Liza and her husband Peter Dalfonso, and Rachel Herrin; stepdad, Albert Lessor; and beloved nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
