Kathleen Mary (Shultis) Fink passed away, after a brief illness, with her family at her side on Friday May 30, 2025. Kathleen was known by most as Kathy. Kathy was born on March 12, 1939, in Schenectady, NY to Mary Eloise (McDonald) Shultis and William Parry Shultis. Raised by love mother Anna Lena (Ciani) Shultis from age 3. Kathy had a younger sister Linda (Shultis) Ralbovsky. Her family resided in downtown Schenectady, then in Rotterdam, NY.

Kathy graduated from Draper High School, Rotterdam, NY in 1957.

Kathy married Lewis Edwin Fink, Jr. of Niskayuna, NY on August 10, 1958 in Mayfield, NY. They met while working at General Electric in Schenectady, NY and were married 6 weeks later.

Kathy graduated from the University of Maine in 1988 with an Associates of Science with highest honors. Kathy became an ordained Stephen Minster in Baltimore, Maryland in 1992. Kathy performed as the Referrals Coordinator for Stephen Ministers at the First Baptist Church in Springvale, ME.

Kathy enjoyed all employments beginning with General Electric Company in Schenectady, NY and in Brockport, NY. After moving to Sanford, ME in 1972, Kathy worked for Sanford Stampings, Dr. Lorenzen, Dr. Bacon, Dr. Gorin, Southern Maine Regional Planning, York County Employment and Training Association, Hussey Manufacturing, and Eagle Industries. Kathy was a correspondent for The Journal Tribune newspaper for 17 years, followed by a correspondent for the Sanford News for 4 years. Kathy was pleased to be the secretary at the First Baptist Church in Springvale, ME to Rev. Dr. Hugh Crouch, Rev. Kenneth Keating, and Rev. Michael Lauziere. Kathy taught crocheting to adult education classes in Sanford High School, Noble High School, Massabesic High School, and Kennebunk High School for a time reaching 21 years. Kathy was the manager/bookkeeper for the Oldtimers’ Shop in Sanford, ME from 2003 to 2010; then bookkeeper from 2010 to 2025.

Kathy also wrote two books Rural York County and Westerly. These books were part of the Images of America Series by Arcadia Publishing.

Kathy was predeceased by her husband, Lewis Edwin Fink, Jr.; sister, Linda (Shultis) Ralbovsky; and her parents, William Parry Shultis, Lena (Ciani) Shultis, and Mary (McDonald) Shultis.

Kathy is survived by her four children and their spouses: Patricia Ann (Fink) Angers and Steve Angers, Melinda Mary (Fink) Tyler and Gaines Tyler, Lewis Edwin Fink III and Maryann Fink, William David Fink and Peralie Burbank; 14 grandchildren: Harry C. Reed Jr. and wife Linda, Sarah J. Reed-Bragdon and husband Rich, Margaret L. Zappala, William D. Fink Jr and wife Samantha, Lyndsay R. (Fink) Sargent and husband Will, Tyler J. Curry, Katelyn E. (Fink) Field and husband David, Carolyn M. Curry, Rachel M. Fink, Jonathan M. Fink, Sophia J. Hallett, Austin P. Fink, Lauren L. Fink, and Lewis E. Fink IV; and 10 great grandchildren: Felicia M. Black, Alec E.L. Reed, Gavin M. Zappala, Conor Sargent, Logan Sargent, Caleb Girodet, Deivian Fink, Kara Fink, Gabriel Bragdon, Mason Bragdon, Daniel Brissette, Karliah Brissette; and two great-great grandchildren: Alastor C. Black and Emmitt R. Black.

A Celebration of life will be held at the First Baptist Church of Springvale (429 Main Street, Springvale ME 04083) at 1pm on Saturday, June 21, 2025. Interment at the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery, private ceremony.
