Born in: Portland, Maine
Resided in: Portland, Maine

PORTLAND – Roberta Marie (Lee) Loring spent over 100 years on this planet, blessing the lives of her family and friends with her kind, gentle and loving nature, before moving on to join her loved ones in eternity on May 17, 2025.

She was born in Portland, Maine, daughter of John J. Lee and Elizabeth (O’Toole) Lee and grew up on Munjoy Hill. She attended schools in Portland, graduating from St. Joseph’s Academy in 1942. She attended Northeastern Business School and worked for the New England Telephone Co. before entering the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1946. She worked as an RN at Maine General Hospital and the Mercy Hospital on the Medical Surgery Floor for many years. Later, she was employed as an RN at Park Danforth in the west end of Portland, a privately endowed home for the elderly. In 1972, she worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Franklin Towers in Portland, the first high rise residence in Maine for the independent elderly. She enrolled in the Family Nurse Associate Program at the University of Maine and graduated in 1974. During her later retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at McAuley High School and St. Joseph’s Manor. She also served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Pius Church.

Roberta returned to The Park Danforth on Stevens Avenue to live as a resident, decades after years of service in the original location, and thrived within the community of the fine staff, neighbors and dear friends she made there. Her final years were a time of deep meaning and growth, surrounded by her cherished extended family and community, who encompassed her and her family with such love. In the years we were so very blessed to have Roberta Loring as our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and dear friend, we learned so much from her integrity, strength, wisdom and deep religious faith – she was a beautiful and treasured Soul in this life, and is now of eternal status.

Roberta was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harold G. Loring, her cherished daughter Carol Pipinias, sisters Helen Lane, Elizabeth Smart, Dorothy Bartley and brothers John Lee and Rev. Thomas Lee.

Surviving are her daughters Roberta Donnini and husband William Sr. of Cumberland, Barbara Loring of Scarborough, her son Harold Gregory Loring and wife Alice of Raymond, former daughter-in-law Pam Loring, son-in-law Joseph Pipinias, her grandchildren, William Donnini Jr. of Portland, Danielle Barlett and husband Jason of Stratham, NH, Alexandra Muschinski and husband Andrew of Goshen, KY, Anthony Loring of New York, NY, Samantha O’Connor and husband Brice of Falmouth, Delaney Loring and partner Liam Anderson of Portland and great-grandchildren, Madeleine and Lillian Muschinski, Madison and Tyler Bartlett and Josie Lee and Mac O’Connor.
