South Portland – With great sadness, we announce the passing of Anthony P. Fiore, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Tony was born on June 21, 1953, to the late Helen Fitzgerald Fiore and Anthony P. Fiore Sr. He is predeceased by his son, Patrick D. Davis, and a sister, Jennifer Fiore.
A proud attendee of Foxborough High School, Tony’s path in life was one of curiosity, adventure, and unrelenting dedication. After high school, he joined the Navy, where his love of learning and exploration began. A self-described “Jack of all trades”, master of none,” Tony’s curiosity never wavered. He knew obscure details of places and things, and his ability to engage others with his big ideas left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Tony worked as a truck driver for many years, supporting his family with hard work and determination. Among other road gigs, Tony toured with Cher, Janet Jackson, Barenaked Ladies, Rod Stewart, and Tina Turner while juggling his responsibilities as a father and husband. Later in life, Tony discovered an interest in technology and returned to school to obtain certifications in computer science. He worked for the South Portland School District for seventeen years, where he became known for his expertise and willingness to help others.
Tony’s greatest pride has always been in his family. He raised their children, Sarah and Patrick, with his beloved wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Fiore. Tony and Betty built a home together in South Portland, where Tony put his hands to work, meticulously measuring and calculating everything to ensure the house was just right. Their love for each other was evident in everything they did, from raising their family to embarking on their dream cross–country road trip to Alaska, a journey they had planned and dreamed of for many years.
As a grandfather, Tony found immeasurable joy in his two granddaughters, Julia and Janelle Connors, who were the light of his life. He cherished every moment with them, offering love, guidance, and the wisdom of a man who truly believed in the importance of family.
Tony’s love for adventure never ceased, and he continued to explore his passions, including a new love of cooking for those he cared most for. A man of many talents, he could fix anything and build anything, and often did, impressing those around him with his knowledge and work ethic. And despite his more serious pursuits, Tony never lost his sense of humor, once known for his youthful streaking skills.
Tony was a devoted companion to Betty, his wife and life partner. A loyal friend to all who knew him, his warmth, generosity, and humor will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife, Betty Fiore, daughter Sarah Connors, granddaughters Julia and Janelle Connors, and a sister, Stephanie Moser (California), and many cousins. Supporting Tony through his extended medical journey with cancer were Dr. Dugan and Dr. Wrona, sisters-in-law Beverly A Day, Rosemary, and Harold Munson, brother-in-law Dr. Phillip, and Valerina Day, and many other family members and friends.
Per Tony’s wishes, there will be no services, and the burial will be private.
