April 25, 2025

Born in: Dorchester, Massachusetts
Resided in: Rockport, Massachusetts

Priscilla Anne Hodge (Anne) passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025 in Rockport, Mass. From a family of artists, she was a talented painter and she knitted elaborate clothes for her impressive collection of antique dolls which she painstakingly restored. She loved cats and was 91 years old at the time of her death, having lived independently until just a short time ago.

Anne was born in 1934 in Dorchester, Mass. to Page and Priscilla Trotter, who were active painters in Rockport with a gallery on Bearskin Neck until the time of their passing. Her older brother Robert, who predeceased her, was a Navy veteran who later worked in the Postal Service.

Anne shared with her parents a lifelong passion for art. Her artistic gift led her to the Massachusetts College of Art, where she studied industrial design and painting. It was there that she met her first husband of 20 years, designer Howard Richardson, who passed away in 2013. Anne and Howard immersed themselves in diverse creative pursuits, influencing their four children; Scott, Lenny, Kim, and Todd and others around them. They were colonial re-enactors, held Andy Warhol style parties at the deck-house style home they built in an apple orchard in Marlborough, Mass. They participated in motor rallies in her 1956 Morris Minor painted with a racing stripe and psychedelic flowers.

Anne later pursued a Masters degree in Art Education at Massachusetts College of Art, attending classes at the same time as her two eldest boys. She went on to teach art to children in Andover, Mass. at South Elementary School for 20+ years.

She was a chorus member of the Sweet Adelines for years and toured across the country and Europe, singing barbershop harmony and a-cappella music.

Her second husband, Joe Donovan, was the father of four children; Darren, Arden, Shawn, and Erin. Her third and final husband was WWII veteran Bill Hodge, with whom she lived happily in Acton, Maine on Balch Lake for many years. Bill predeceased her in 2003.

Anne is survived by all four of her children; Scott Richardson and Kathleen Gillies of Yarmouth, ME, Leonard Richardson and his wife Mary of Gloucester, MA, Kimberly Sarkin of Rockport, MA, and Todd Richardson and his wife Donna of Andover, MA. Anne was the proud grandmother to Curtis Sarkin, Brendan Richardson, Robin Sarkin, Taylor Richardson, Caroline Sarkin, Phoebe Richardson, and Pearl Richardson, and great grandmother to Ari Sarkin-Shearer. Anne will also be missed by her step-children and many nieces and nephews. Anne was preceded in death by her son-in-law Dr. Jonathan Sarkin.

A graveside service and burial will be conducted at the Acton Corner Cemetery in Acton, Maine at a future date.
