South Portland – Andrea “Nana” (Haase) Laidlaw, 70, passed away on April 5, 2025, at her home surrounded by loving family. Andrea was born in Thomaston on her mother’s birthday, February 14, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Aleta (Carpenter) Haase.
Andrea was so much to so many people. She was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, an aunt, a grandmother, a great grandmother and a friend. Her outpouring of love for everyone who happened upon her doorstep was immense. She never turned anyone away. Her door was always open. There was always a spot at her table and room on the couch. It never mattered to her your politics or beliefs, she welcomed people from all walks of life with a smile that was so warm and welcoming that you just had to stay and chat.
Andrea was extremely family oriented. Her husband Bob and four daughters were her absolute joy. She loved doing everything with them from trips to Florida, drives across Maine to see beautiful waterfalls and gorgeous mountains, and taking girls trips! She loved family get-togethers for birthdays, holidays and cookouts. She was always the life of the party. She loved to laugh, sing and dance. Although gone from this earth, her presence will never be forgotten. Her light will forever shine.
Andrea is survived by her husband of 53 years, Bob Laidlaw; daughters, Aleta and her husband Greg Allain, BJ and her husband Jeff Hogan, Erika and her husband CJ Walker, and Heather Laidlaw and her partner Tim Baker, and beloved dog, Shadow; grandchildren, Alyssa, Samantha and her fiancé Corey, Damien and his partner Jasmine, Noah James and his partner Malina, Emma and her husband Manny, Madison and her spouse Jayden, Bode, Hayden, Dylan, and Cali Sue; great grandchildren, Brayden, Cammy, Logan, Emmy, and Luca; siblings, Herbert, Paul and his wife Karen, Debbie, and Melissa and her husband Walter; and many beloved extended family members.
A Celebration of Life was held in private with Andrea’s family; another time of remembrance will be held at a later date.
To Andrea, you went into everyone’s heart who you came in contact with. I feel blessed to have met you. Your children have grown up to have the love you exhibited. I will always remember all the love that you showed to my family. ❤️
Love you all.
