SANFORD—Joan W. Anderson, 91, of Sanford, died peacefully on Thursday March 27, 2025.

She was born in Fort Fairfield, December 1, 1933, the daughter of Peter and Alice (Parker) Cyr. She earned her associate’s degree in nursing and was very devoted to her nursing career. She loved being a nurse and worked until the age of 78.
Joan enjoyed her pets, playing the piano, reading, and dancing with her husband, Sam, they excelled at dancing the jitterbug. She was dedicated to her family and always enjoyed the many parties and gatherings they had.

Joan was predeceased by her husband, Samuel Anderson and siblings, Marilyn Fazio and Christine Ball and daughter, Kathleen Domijan.

She is survived by her children, Mary Moulton, Donna Rothaus, Lloyd Rothaus and Rebecca Poirier; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Black Heald and Walker Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 2 pm.
