Paul H. Langlois, 71, of Sanford, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was born on May 18, 1953, to the late Leo and Lorraine (Cookson) Langlois in Sanford. A lifelong resident, he graduated from Sanford High School and went on to build a fulfilling life in his community. He spent most of his career at Pratt & Whitney, retiring from there in 2017. Outside of work, Paul was a devoted family man, supporter of youth sports, and a beloved coach. Whether it was his own children or his grandchildren, he never missed an opportunity to be their biggest fan. Youngsters affectionately referred to him as “Papa L”. Often the life of the party, Paul would walk into a room of strangers and come out with friends. Whether it was a new adventure in the jeep, or entertaining at his bar downstairs, he was up for having a fun time. An avid golfer and a talented pool player, he also took great joy in cheering on his favorite New England sports teams, especially the Patriots and Red Sox. Above all, Paul was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was selfless, always putting others first, and caring for those he loved. His welcoming and social disposition combined with a great sense of humor and smile, made him a wonderful friend and companion. Paul was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Survivors include his wife of 45 years Patti Langlois of Sanford, his daughters Jamie Cloutier and her husband Brian of Kennebunk, and Robyn Howe and her husband Joshua of Sanford, his son Ryan Langlois and his wife Niki of Sanford, three grandchildren, Declan Howe, and Kursten and Alexandra Langlois, two sisters, Elaine Bluck of Portland and Jeanne Sullivan and her husband Dan of Gorham, many nieces, nephews and cousins, and of course his pups Chester and Baylee. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, February 26, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 27 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, 66 North Ave., Sanford. Burial will take place at St. Ignatius Cemetery in the spring.

I met Paul as a kid on the East Side of Sanford. Playing pick up baseball and basketball in the parks. While he was ahead of me in school, he always took the time to invite us to play sports with him and his friends. He taught us much. After high school we used to play basketball on Sunday afternoons at Saint’s Gym and also played in Men’s League together. Always the competitor, he would challenge the best of us. Quite the outside shooter, you’d never want to give him a foot or it was a made shot for sure! I also had the good fortune to play golf with him on several occasions. Again, a class act and competitor but it was always with a sense of humor and fun!
I can honestly say that I never left an interaction with him without smiling and feeling happy I saw him and feeling better about myself.
I can see him now sinking a 15 foot jumper over me and as he ran back the other way, would smile that signature smile!!
How the heck could you not smile back!
RIP my friend!
My deep sympathy and prayers to Patty and family. Words cannot ease your pain. May God give you the strength through this difficult time and the bond of Love that Paul had with you embrace you and know that all who he touched in his life left us better human beings.
His smile and engaging personality and sense of humor always left you leaving with a smile and feeling better about yourself. He had that rare gift and his caring shown through in all he did.
God Bless and may he RIP!
