He was born to Dorothy R. Verow (Trunk) and Earle A. Verow on December 1st, 1955, in Chicago, IL. Many enjoyable years of his youth were spent living in the West Indies and then later in Carle Place and Westbury on Long Island, NY. He had a deep love for animals which he impressed upon his daughter, Lauren. Michael was also a gifted artist. Throughout his life, Michael remained steadfast in his Catholic faith. He was deeply inspired by the teachings of both St. Padre Pio and St. Francis of Assisi, whose faith, compassion, and love for others guided his every step. Michael had proudly served as a Eucharistic Minister at his church. His faith was a source of encouragement to others, reminding all of the peace that comes from trusting in God’s plan.
Michael worked over three decades as a Radiological Control Technician supporting the Department of Navy’s mission to repair and modernize nuclear submarines. He worked at both Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and Puget Sound Naval Shipyard during his career. President George H.W. Bush officially recognized his personal contributions to the national defense of which he was especially proud of. Michael retired from the shipyard in 2020. He then enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending time with family. Michael is survived by his two children Lauren E. Verow and Thomas P. Verow, their mother Robin L. Verow, and son-in-law Shain D. Verow. Thinking of you
Here’s to the many good years we shared together. You were a kind and loving father and you will be greatly missed. Rest easy in the Lord Mike ❤️
Mike was my big brother. He was larger than life & loved a good time . Back in the 70’s & 80’s guys wore their hair long . Michael’s nickname in High School was
“Chickie “ because of his platinum blonde hair! Mike was over 6 feet tall & I could always easily find him in a dark bar because of his hair ! Il never forget when he & his friends went to the Woodstock Festival. They were real entrepreneurs! They made a lot of peanut butter sandwiches to sell at the Festival!
Another found memory I had of Mike was when he & his buddies went to NYC in the summer. A hair salon owner offered Mike $100 on the spot to cut off his hair & the owner was going to have his hair made into a wig ! Naturally when Mike decided to cut his hair he couldn’t find the stylist card .
My late husband David & my 2 daughters Alexis & Samantha loved to go to the Verow family reunions . David & Mike loved their funny cigarettes! Mike was very good & patient with kids . He taught all of us to Kayak!
Well big brother say hi to David & Mom & Dad !!!!
Michael was my children’s grandfather, and he was the best papa to both children. I am so grateful to have met Michael and everything he did for our family! He will be so deeply missed by all.
I will always remember the incredible love I saw you show for your grandson Sammy. You will live on through him.
