April 25, 1953 ~ February 4, 2022

Ava Lou Mullins Owens, 68, of Sanford, died on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford. Ava was born in Fort Kent, Maine on April 25, 1953 to Patrick and Beulah (Hafford) Mullins and was raised in Allagash, Maine. She raised two children and shared 48 years of marriage with retired Air Force Master Sergeant Kenneth E. Owens. During her working life she was employed as a certified nursing assistant as well as a dental technician. Ava was the rock of her family, and she loved her husband and children more than life itself. She was always there for everyone and was very giving of herself if anyone had a need. She was always there to care for loved ones when they were ill. Her love and attention were an integral part of their recovery and it came naturally to her. Her kind heart and generosity were apparent to all who knew and loved her. She was the best wife, mother, and friend anyone could hope for. She was greatly loved and to say she will be missed is an understatement. Surviving are her husband, Kenneth E. Owens of Sanford and two children, Thomas Paul Robert Owens of Sanford and Janeen Debbie Kim Owens of Shapleigh. At her family's request, services for Ava will be private. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider sending a memorial contribution to the Animal Welfare Society, 46 Holland Road, Kennebunk, Maine 04043. Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale. To leave a message of condolence for the family please visit www.blackfuneralhomes.com.
