Resided in:
Sanford, ME
Eric W. Cook, 41, of Sanford, ME passed away on March 5, 2022 after a long battle with addiction. Eric fought long and hard to overcome his addiction. He was a spiritual person who often turned to God as his higher power. He wanted nothing more than to be free from his demons. Eric was born in Lowell, MA on May 23, 1980. He was part of a military family that made their home in several locations including Hawaii, Guam and Alaska. Eric's family settled in Sanford where Eric attended local schools and graduated from Sanford High School in 1998. Eric loved life and art. He was a talented artist who found peace expressing himself through his drawings. Eric has held many jobs over the years with his favorite being computer aided drafting which enabled him to use his artistic talent. But most of all, Eric loved being a father to his son, Joseph. Joey was the greatest joy of Eric's life. They spent many hours together drawing, cooking, exploring, catching frogs, fishing and just hanging out. Eric always had a smile on his face and a cheerful disposition. He could light up a room with his smile and will be so missed.Eric is survived by his son Joseph, Joseph's mother, Staci Cook, and his loving partner, Tina Wilmot, all from Sanford; his parents, James and Kelley Cook and his maternal grandfather, James Floyd all from Summerfield, FL; his sister Lauren and husband Michael Kelewae of North Berwick. Eric's extended family includes many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Those wishing to make a donation in Eric's name can do so at the Salvation Army Recovery Program in Portland, ME which helped Eric greatly in his journey. Eric's greatest wish was to ensure no one had to live through the hardships of addiction.A funeral service for Eric will take place on Sunday, March 13th at 2PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. Cook Family, I do not know your family. After I read the obituary of Your
Beloved Eric, I wanted to seen you my condolences. Many families are
Losing loved ones to addiction. I lost a cousin to addiction, leaving behind
three beautiful girls. Their battle is over! Jesus compared death to a peaceful
Sleep.(John 11:11-14). We can appreciate Gods love to know that our be-
loved ones are not suffering any pain or struggles. They have the hope of a
wonderful resurrection to live the real life.(John 5:28:29, 1Timothy 6:19)
