Madeline Cote, 93, of Sanford passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at Wentworth Douglas Hospital in Dover, NH.
She was born on May 29, 1929, to one of four daughters to Simeon and Maria (LaLiberte) Fontaine in Sanford where she grew up and attended catholic school and was a lifelong resident.
She is predeceased by her husband Wilbur D. Cote (2002), daughters Suzanne Goodwin and Adrienne Osmer, son David Cote, her sisters Charlene Hewlett, Veronica Rousseau, and Dolores Daigle.
She loved her Tabby cats Tilly, Precious, and P.T. She enjoyed playing bingo and doing word search puzzles, watching Nascar racing, fish chowder, and chocolate donuts.
At a young age, Madeline went to work at local shoe shops including Universal and Allied Shoe Companies. She was also employed for many years as a dietary aide at Goodall Hospital.
Survivors include grandchildren Michelle and her husband James Pease of IL, Sherri Cyr of Sanford, Robin Osmer Jr. of NH, Beth Anne and her husband Marc Tufts of Wells, Jason Osmer of Hollis, Carolyn Cote of Sanford and Jeffery Cote of South Carolina, son-in-law Philip Goodwin of Lebanon and daughter-in-law Gloria Cote of Plymouth and many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2022, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St., Sanford.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 9 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, formerly known as Holy Family Church, 66 North Ave., Sanford.
A burial will immediately follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery, Berwick Road, Sanford.
Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
