Emile O Belanger

Emile O. Belanger, 92, of Sanford, died on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford. Emile was born on December 12, 1930 to Stanislas and Marie Anne (Guillemette) Belanger in Sanford where he grew up and attended the local Catholic schools. He proudly Served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. During his working life, Emile was employed at Universal Shoe in Sanford for 8 years. He went on to work for Arrow Hart Electric Company, Inc in Hartford, Connecticut for 18 years before returning to Sanford and working for 12 years for UNICO until his retirement in 1992. Emile was a communicant of St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish in Sanford. He enjoyed doing genealogy and also enjoyed doing repairs and working on the apartment house where he lived. Emile was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph Leo Belanger and Roland Belanger. Surviving are six siblings, Irene Melanson of Sanford, Rose Melanson of Sanford, Gerard Belanger of Sanford, Lorraine Thibodeau of Sanford, Henry Belanger of Sanford and Raymond Belanger of Waterboro and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service with military honors will be held at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a date to be announced. Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and cremation service, Sanford-Springvale.
