Margaret C. Cleveland, 90, of Sanford, died on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the H.D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford, Maine.Margaret was born in Providence, Rhode Island on November 15, 1921 to John and Catherine (Tierney) McCann where she grew up and attended local schools, graduating from St. Xavier Academy. In 1944 she married Joseph Coyne and together they had 11 children. They were married for 24 years until Joseph died in 1968. In 1972 she married Benjamin Cleveland of North Attleboro, Massachusetts and the couple relocated to Maine.Margaret's was a loving mother who devoted her life to raising her family. After her children were grown she went to work as a house parent for Spurwink School caring for the disabled. She was a very artistic person who enjoyed painting and was a talented singer. Margaret was a devout Catholic and a communicant of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Sanford/Springvale. She was also a former member of the Mother of Twins Club. Margaret will be remembered as a kind and loving woman who loved children. She will be dearly missed by her friends and family.Margaret was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph R. Coyne.Surviving are her husband of 40 years, Benjamin Cleveland of Madison, Maine; 11 children, Margaret Rudolf of Madison, Maine, Catherine Rivard of Coventry, Rhode Island, Joseph M. Coyne and his wife Carol of Plymouth Vermont, Charlotte M. Townsend and her husband Mark of West Warwick, Rhode Island, Christina R. Brown and her husband David of Carson, California, Gerard T. Coyne of Waterboro, Maine, Maria R. O'Donnell of Madison, Maine, Bernard J. Coyne of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, Lois A. Coyne of Limington, Maine, Janice T. Violette and her husband Thomas of Limerick, Maine and Thaddeus J. Coyne and his wife Marie of Indianapolis, Indiana; 23 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and two nephews.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 16th at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, located on North Avenue in Sanford.
