Ellen Clark
Ellen R. (Peverill) Clark, 89, of Ocean Park, died peacefully at her home on June 24, 2016 surrounded by her family. Ellen was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on November 23, 1926 to Charles and Lillian (Bell) Peverill. She grew up in Billerica where she attended local schools, graduating from Billerica High School in 1944. In 1947 she married John H. Clark and together they raised four children and shared 44 years of marriage until his death in 1991. During her working life she was employed for many years at the Ocean Park Post Office, as a cook at the Oceanwood Environmental School and as a cook at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough. When Ellen's children were young she served as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader. She had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served on the advisory board for the Rainbow Girls. She was an excellent cook and was well known for her potato salad and deviled eggs. She loved preparing meals for her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandsons. Ellen had an excellent sense of humor and always enjoyed joking and laughing with friends and family. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She will be dearly missed by her friends and family. Ellen was predeceased by her husband, John H. Clark Sr. and by a grandson, Carl DiPietro. Surviving are four children, John H. Clark, Jr. and his wife Elaine of Biddeford, Catherine M. Clark of Boston, JoEllen Clark of Ocean Park and Robert C. Clark of Chattanooga, TN; three grandchildren, Kristen Drouin of Biddeford, John H. Clark III and his fiancee Kristin Booth of Dayton and Gina DiPietro of Boston and three great grandchildren, Parker and Aiden Drouin and John H. Clark IV and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to Ellen's niece Bobbea Wilcher for the years of care and kindness shown to Ellen during her period of declining health. At Ellen's request, services will be private.
