Paul R. Chevalier
Sanford- Paul R. Chevalier, 82, of Sanford, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at his home. Paul was born in Springvale on July 19, 1933, the son of Joseph and Amanda Chevalier. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On September 2, 1957 Paul married Germaine Caron. They recently celebrated their 58th anniversary which he boasted about right up to his final days of life.Paul retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and spent many years golfing with his brother-in-law and good friend Henry Rioux. Family and friends all enjoyed reliving the competitive, friendly stories. He was an avid hunter and loved spending time out hunting with his sons. He not only enjoyed the sport but also just being out with nature. Every hunting season brought along with it the many, many stories of hunts past which people never grew tired of hearing. Paul really loved to captivate people with his life long experience stories right to his final days. He was also a great supporter of the Sanford athletics program and was a true local sports fan.Paul is pre-deceased by both of his parents, his brothers, Roland, Raymond, Claude and Albert and his sisters, Claire and Adrienne.Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Germaine B. (Caron); two sons, Norman of Sanford and Thomas and his wife Debra of Waterboro; his brother, Maurice and his wife Dot of North Carolina; four grandchildren, Aleisha Ritter, Kerianne Chevalier, Ashley and Seth Chevalier and two great-grandchildren, Derik Ritter and Emily Brenton.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church located on North Avenue in Sanford. Interment with military honors will follow at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery located on Stanley Road in Springvale.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.To leave a message of condolence for the family please click on the condolences tab to the left.
