Beatrice E. Cate

Beatrice E. Cate, 90 years old, formerly of Pearl Street in Waterboro died Friday morning, June 1, 2007 at the Newton Center in Sanford.Beatrice was born on August 3, 1916 in Waterboro, ME. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mattie Roberts Brakett. She attended local schools, and lived in Waterboro all her life.Although Beatrice never had any children of her own, she was like a second mother to many. She often cared for her nieces, nephews, and friend's children. Beatrice enjoyed the simple things in life. One of her favorite hobbies was embroidery. She often created tablecloths and napkins for others to enjoy. One of her other interests was collecting salt & peppershakers.Beatrice was also a very devout Christian. She was a past member of the Grace Full Gospel Assembly of Westbrook, where she would volunteer for mission work, and help with the youth groups.Beatrice was predeceased by her husband Dana W. Cate, a sister Christina Davis, and a brother Wilfred BrackettSurviving are four nieces, Beverly St.Arseneault of Lebanon, Ruth Carver and June Helstrom of Lakeland, FL, V. Carolyn Hess of Barnesville, GA, Ann Perez of Seldon, NY; four nephews, Blaine Davis of Hollis, ME, Donald Davis of Presque Isle, ME, Carl Davis of Washington, NC, and Arnold Davis of Stockholm, ME. Also surviving are many great nieces and nephews, and her dear friend of many years Leonis Huff.A 10:30 AM graveside service for Beatrice will be held this Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at the Pine Grove Cemetery in South Waterboro, ME.
