Marc A. Butler
Marc Aaron Butler, 65, of Arlington, MA, a former resident of Sanford, died September 5 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA after a battle with pancreatic cancer.He was born in Sanford on August 18, 1947, the son of Harold W. and Celia (Butterfield) Butler, attended local schools and was a graduate of Sanford High School.Civic minded, Marc was a former president of the Arlington Children's Theater and an elected member of the Arlington Democratic Town Committee. Marc sang with Iveria, an a cappella men's choir for 20 years. He was a longtime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as a Temple Ordinance Worker, Elders Quorum President and Stake Financial Clerk.Survivors include his wife, Deborah (Sirotkin) Butler of Arlington, MA, his son Samuel Aaron Butler, also of Arlington, MA, his daughter Sarah Hannah Butler of Waltham, MA, and his sister, Deborah Gullison and her children Whitney Gullison and Brian Nieder of Springvale.Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday at 2:00 PM at the Sanford Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Westview Drive, Sanford.
