Thomas A. Butler
Thomas A. Butler, 69, of Springvale, died June 3 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford after a brief illness.He was born in Springvale on February 20, 1940, a son of Albert L. and Dora (Wellington) Butler, attended Sanford schools and was a 1958 graduate of Sanford High School.Tom was employed for over 30 years with Hussey Mfg. in No. Berwick, attained the position of supervisor and retired in 2005.Never married and with no children of his own, he doted on his nieces and nephews and they fondly recalled days of fishing, hunting and camping with Tom. He was the family photographer, photographing many weddings and other family events. He was an avid outdoorsman especially enjoying paddling his canoe and was always prepared to set up a campsite.He was a member of the NRA and the Sportsman's Alliance of Maine.He was predeceased by a sister, Irene Durgin in 2006.Survivors include a brother, Norman A. Butler of Sanford, a sister, Helen Barlow of E. Boothbay and several nieces and nephews.A committal service will be held on Sunday at 2:00 PM at Maplewood Cemetery in Parsonsfield.Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.
