Robert H. Brown

Robert H. Brown, 88, of Sanford, passed away at his home on Saturday, March 10, 2018.Robert was born on September 19, 1929 in Lovell, Maine to Marion and Roger Brown. He graduated from Fryeburg Academy in 1947 and following graduation, he served his country in the Army and the Marine Corps. Robert taught in the Sanford School system for 35 years and was an active member of St. Ignatius Church where he was also part of the choir. He continued his dedication to education and faith by volunteering at St. Thomas School for 10 years following his retirement. There was nothing more important to Robert than family. He was a devoted husband to wife, Margaret for 64 years and a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Robert is predeceased by his sisters, Ann Turley, Betty Hammond, brother, Roger Brown and son, David Brown. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; his son Michael and his wife Cathy; son Jim and his wife, Dawn; daughter Susan and her husband Mark; his grandchildren: Meghan and her husband Ben, Matthew and his wife Linn, Bethany and her husband Jason, Cassandra, Benjamin and Tallyn and great grandchildren, Eli, Brynn, Elsie and Nora. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 15th at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church located on North Avenue in Sanford. Interment with military honors will be held at a later date at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Springvale.Family flowers only please.
