James Brooks
James Brooks III, "Brooksy", 65, of Shapleigh, passed away in Shapleigh on Thursday, January 14, 2016. He was born in Biddeford on May 5, 1950 a son of the late James II and Jacqueline (Cote) Brooks. After graduation from Biddeford High School in 1968 he enlisted in the US Army and served in Korea.Brooksy retired from the Portsmouth Navy Yard in 1998 with over 26 years of service. He was a longtime member of the Lafayette Club, the Springvale Social Club and the Sanford American Legion. He enjoyed four wheeling and spending time at his camp at the Forks. A good handyman, he enjoyed helping out his friends with odd jobs. He also enjoyed doing crosswords and crypt to quotes in the daily Portland Press Herald.He is predeceased by his parents as well as one brother, John Brooks.He is survived by his son, Jesse L'Esperance and his wife, Sara of California, grandchildren, Denise, Ryan and Ethan. He is also survived by his sisters, and brothers, Joanne Brooks, Janice Brooks, June Teras, Jackie Newell, Judy Phelps, Joseph Brooks, Jeffrey Brooks, Jay Brooks, Jerry Brooks and Joey Brooks.Visiting hours will be on Monday, January 18th from 4 to 7PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.
