SACO Former Sanford resident Donald G. Bourque, 81, of Saco died Saturday evening at his home following a long illness. He was born in Sanford February 10, 1927 the son of Louis and Elodie (Landry) Bourque. He was educated at the former Holy Family School in Sanford. Don was employed as a shoe cutter by the former Mayberry Shoe Co. of Rochester, NH for eighteen years. He would later be employed at Joseph Herman Shoe of Scarborough. Don retired from Pratt-Whitney of No. Berwick in 1992.Don has been residing in Saco since 1999. Moving here from Old Orchard Beach in 1971 prior to moving there from Sanford. He was a horse racing enthusiast. He was a communicant of Good Shephard Parish, Notre Dame Church.Survivors are his wife of 57 1/2 years Rita Y. (Cote) Bourque, his son Robert and daughters Sandra Ledoux and her husband Ronald all of Saco and Linda Field and her husband Steven of Wells, along with eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.A memorial funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 :00 am Wednesday at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish Holy Family Church in Sanford. Burial will be in St. Ignatius Cemetery in the spring.Arrangements by the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St., Sanford.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Maine 180 US Route 1, Ste 1, Scarborough ME 04074-9925To leave the family a message of condolence please use the "condolences" tab to the left.
