Armand J. Bourque, 88, of Sanford, died August 19 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford after a two year battle with duodenal cancer.He was born in Port Elgin, New Brunswick, Canada on June 18, 1919, a son of Louis and Elodie (Landry) Bourque. He was raised and educated in Sanford.He served in World War II in the engineer outfit attached to the 5th Army that took their training in Salerno, Italy to prepare for the invasion of southern France.Armand worked for 20 years at Mailhot's Clothing Store, later purchased the business, and owned and operated the store for another 20 years.He enjoyed playing golf and was a longtime member of the Sanford Country Club.He was a communicant of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish at Holy Family Church.A member of the American Legion, he and his wife also enjoyed going on bus tours where they made many friends.He was predeceased by his sisters Albina, Aldea, Rina and Irene and by brothers Albert, Alcide, Omer and Lionel.Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Laurette (Rouillard) Bourque of Sanford, two sons, Michael Bourque and his wife Gail, Rick Bourque, all of Sanford, a daughter, Rachel Krupsky of Sanford, grandchildren Amy Bourque of Santa Monica, CA, Ryan Bourque, Andrea Krupsky and Kimberly Krupsky all of Sanford, and a brother, Donald Bourque and his wife Rita of Saco.Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 :00 AM at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church.
