Gerald Bogan, 72, of Sanford, a former resident of Malden, MA and winter resident of Seminole, FL died at home on November 24.He was born in Malden, MA on August 8, 1933, a son of Thomas and Helen (Hyland) Bogan.He joined the US Army and served in the Korean Conflict.After the war, he returned home and entered into a career in law enforcement, first with the city of Malden, and then with the MDC police force, until an injury forced his retirement in 1977. He moved to Maine and was employed with Ledgemere Transportation in Wells from which he retired in 1999.In his retirement, he was a winter resident of Seminole, FL and a summer resident of Sanford, but increasing health difficulties forced him to stay in Maine this year.Survivors include 2 daughters, Jeri Mellen of Sanford, Kathleen Stone of Cornish, 3 sons, Sean Bogan, Brenden Bogan, both of Sanford, Bill Bogan of Plant City, FL, 5 grandchildren, Casey Stone of Cornish, Christian Bogan of Plant City, FL, Ryan Bogan, Connor Bogan, both of Springvale, Aislin Mellen of Sanford, 3 brothers, Thomas Bogan of Ft. Worth, TX, Ronald Bogan of Clearwater, FL, Joseph Bogan of Malden, MA, and several nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford.Condolences may be expressed at the tab at left.
