George B. Young

George B. Young Sr., 70 years old, of Lebanon, ME died Monday, January 21, 2008 at the H.D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford.George was born in Livermore Falls, ME on November 7, 1937, the son of Carlton and Leah Pelletier Young. It was in Livermore Falls that he attended schools, graduated from high school, and enlisted in the Army National Guard.For many years George worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a machinist, and in the forests of Maine as a woodsman.George was a simple and loving man that enjoyed the natural beauty of Maine. He would often take journeys in his vehicle on Sunday afternoons to just enjoy the sights and visit with family and friends. He liked to play his guitar and sing with his family, especially at family cookouts and campfires.George is survived by his wife of more than 46 years M. Gail Yates Young of Lebanon, six children, Lawrence Young of Wells, Dorothy Harrington of Kennebunkport, Michael Young of Kennebunk, George Young Jr. of Kennebunk, Judith Johnson of Biddeford, Wendy Cantara of Lyman, 12 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Arthur, Thomas, and Joseph Young, all of Livermore Falls, and a sister Jane Keene of Turner.A period of visitation will be held this Saturday, January 26, 2008 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale, ME. Burial services will be held in the spring of 2008 in Livermore Falls, ME.In lieu of flowers, the Young family suggests memorials be made to the Lebanon Fire & Rescue, PO Box 430, Lebanon, ME 04027.
