Daniel M. Wirzburger

Daniel M. Wirzburger, 82, of Hollis Center, died January 21 at the Evergreen Manor in Saco after a lengthy illness.He was born in Plymouth, MA on September 27, 1930, the son of Willie and Anna (Sullivan) Wirzburger.Danny served in the US Coast Guard for 27 years, retiring in 1977 whereupon he made his home in Hollis Center.He was a member of the Military Officers Association, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He enjoyed gardening, bowling, playing cribbage and doing jigsaw puzzles.He was predeceased by a son Gary Wirzburger.Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Barbara (Newcomb) Wirzburger of Hollis Center, a son Daniel Wirzburger, Jr. of Hepzibah, GA, son Shawn Wirzburger of Pittsfield, MA, daughter Terry Navaroli of Fitchburg, MA, 5 stepdaughters, Kathleen Tait of Portland, Martha LaBrecque of Biddeford, Amy Gagne of Springvale, Terry Demars of Montana, Lori Myers of Hollis, brother John Wirzburger of Plymouth, MA, grandchildren Tracy Santiago, James Wirzburger, Becky Navaroli, Drew Navaroli and great grandchildren Sophia Santiago and Etta Santiago.A graveside service with military honors will be conducted on Friday at 11 AM at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 82 Stanley Road, Springvale.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Evergreen Manor and Rehab Living Center, 328 North Street, Saco, ME 04072.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
