Margaret "Maggie" Gott Wilson died peacefully at her home in Maryland on May 20. A longtime resident of Springvale and South Berwick, she was born in Clearwater, Kansas on August 8, 1921 to Van and Mabel "Granny" (Ruth) Gott. She had one sister, Mary Upsher. Along with hundreds of dear friends all over the world, she leaves four children Richard Wilson of Portland, Stephen Wilson and his wife Maggie of Fairfax VA, Janet Beaumont and her husband Jerry of Phoenix MD, and Cathy Wilson of Portland, her niece Marsha Dorman of Seattle WA, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.Many will remember Maggie as the proprietor of Wilson's Grain Store in Springvale from 1960 to 1977, where she sold fresh eggs, house paint, seeds, plants, feed, and art supplies to the local community. Her ability to find the perfect combination of materials, textures, and colors to enhance any piece of art gave her a reputation far and wide as a master framer. When Urban Renewal changed the town, she trained to become a nurse's aide and worked at Hillcrest Manor in Sanford until her retirement. She loved people and found beauty in every person, every place, and every situation. In August 1975 she received Jesus Christ into her heart and the best days of her life became brighter and brighter. She was very active in her church's nursing home ministry, visited many countries in Europe and South America, and served for several months as a missionary in Port Antonio, Jamaica. Everywhere she went she made friends that she cherished. She loved to pray, and only Heaven will reveal the fruit of her life. She will be greatly missed.Services will be held on Friday May 28 at 11 o'clock a.m at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Springvale.Condolences may be expressed at the Condolences tab at left.
