Ruth Whitehouse

Ruth E. Whitehouse, 91, of Sanford and West Newfield, passed away on Thursday March 13th 2008 at the Newton Center in Sanford. Mrs. Whitehouse was born in Shapleigh on June 8, 1916, a daughter of Edward and Ida (Connors) Emmons. She attended local schools and Sanford High School. For many years she had been a member Order of Eastern Star, Alfred Chapter.She is predeceased by her husband, Wesley Whitehouse who passed away in 1967. She is also predeceased by one brother, Maurice Emmons, one sister, Mildred Hale.She is survived by her two daughters, Jacqueline Vezina and her husband, Roger of Auburndale, FL and Carole Stead and her husband, Roger of Springfield, VA, one sister, Glendene Woodsome of Sanford, five grandchildren, Todd Vezina and his wife, Suzanne, Shawn Vezina, David Stead and his wife, Caroline, Deborah Thompson and her husband, John, Michael Stead and his wife, Heba, seven great grandchildren.A Graveside service for Mrs. Whitehouse will be held at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Springvale.Contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice of Southern Maine 901 Washington Ave. Suite 104 Portland, Maine 04103, or to a charity of one's choice.Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale.To leave a message of condolence please use the "condolences" tab to the left.
