Kenneth John White, 81, of Sanford, died May 26 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford after a courageous battle with cancer.He was born in E. Rochester, NH on August 6, 1924, a son of Perley Martin and Vena (Boothby) White, and attended Lebanon schools.On March 20, 1943, he married Margery Worcester. Shortly thereafter, he left for a 30 month tour of duty with the US Army in the Pacific during World War II.Upon his return, he was employed with the Goodall-Sanford Textile Mills. After purchasing a home in Lebanon in 1958, he soon built a hen coop and raised chicks to be laying hens to have eggs for house to house delivery. In 1965, he purchased a much larger poultry farm in Sanford which had 4 buildings housing around 12,000 birds. Later, in 1973, he worked for Cyro Industries, and he also painted houses. He retired in 1986.His family recalled that he was a great father whose favorite pastime was square dancing.He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Leslie I. White and Roger J. White.Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Margery J. White of Sanford, 4 children, Klinton K. White and his special friend Nellie Webber of Sanford, Linda J. Meader and her husband Paul of Sanford, Kathy R. McPherson and her husband Howard of Rochester, NH, Donna M. Lehoux and her husband David of Sanford, 5 grandchildren, Sandy Pinette, Sheila Gaskell, Melissa Latella, Devin Lehoux, Damon Lehoux, 7 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, Norman E. White, Carl G. White both of Shapleigh, Raymond G. White of Dade City, FL, and by several nieces and nephews.Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 PM, with Pastor John Hastings officiating.
